Mise-en-scéne Stranger Things analysis

Lighting: At the start of the scene there are flickering green lights that may foreshadow a monster or that something is wrong, later on, we see white lights on the house which also flicker as the boys leave. Lastly, we see the lights on the boy's bike start to flicker as he enters a restricted area, this consistent flickering of lights clearly starts to indicate something is off.

Actors/Actions: At the start we see an older man running sporadically as if he was terrified of something, this fits in with the flickering lights we see. We also see four young boys, this may signify innocence or naivety as many young characters do, this makes the story more interesting as children tend to think more creatively.

Props: We see the four boys playing "Dungeons and Dragons" which is a creative game, backing up the point of creativity. We also see the boys riding bikes from the '80s which is a sign of the era, making the series stand out as it would be an unfamiliar time period for younger viewers. Lastly, we see all the boys wearing rucksacks which indicates they may still be in school as they are young.
